this is a "Boredom Buster" for you to try....
I finally tried the dice game and had a blast! I put up a sign on the wall behind me...i always use computer paper and a big, fat, wide sharpie that smells-up the place but you sure can see the words from far away. The sign had the following information.......
1- seated climb
2- seated sprint
3- standing climb
4- standing sprint
5- jumps
6-hover climb
after warm up i chose someone to roll the dice....I choose by asking the class"who has a b-day in May?"....or "who took a spin class yesterday?"....or "who went to the movie this weekend?"....someone raises their hand and they get to roll....I tell them the rules......
1....the first die tells you what to do( see the chart)
2...the second die tell you how long(what ever the # is...add a 0)
3- we do every thing 5 times
4- I have the right to change the rules anytime i think to make the routine better(sometimes a roll just doesn't make sense so i change it around)
here is an example.......john rolls the first die and gets a 1.....and rolls the second die and gets a 2....we are doing seated climbs for :20 X 5....you choose the rest
this can fill an entire class ...just keep rolling..i used a John Sines 130 BPM aerobics CD called "dazz Funk".....the only time I changed things was if we rolled too many standing sprints or if we rolled :60 standing sprints...5 is too many and too long.....and if we get the same thing twice i would let them switch the dice....so if they rolled a 1 and a 2 again...we'd switch it to seated sprints for :10 X 5....hope I didn't make it complicated...it's very easy and lots of fun...the students really liked to roll the dice and couldn't wait to see what they'd rolled....please let me know how your class goes if you try the dice game.
